How we detect dangerous files and what you can do about it

To protect all users safety and the integrity of our platform, we scan files through a virus scanning service named Virus Total. Virus Total scans the file through 70+ different virus engines to detect malware. Most of the time this works great, the bad guys get caught, and the good guys stay safe.

Virus Total is owned by Google and is closely related to the malware safety engines used by both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. In other words, if your flagged by Virus Total, you would likely be flagged by FireFox and Chrome.

Sometimes a mistake is made. This is called a False Positive. It occurs when one or more virus engines detect a virus, when there isn't one. In this case, your file will be blocked on Fast.io until it's resolved.

You can resolve this by going to Virus Total and creating a free account. You would then upload and scan your file, and you can see the results of the scan. You then submit a report to the virus community that your file is indeed not a virus and they will further investigate. After the issue is resolved, you can contact Fast.io through Intercom and we can clean up the problem immediately.
